My first thanksgiving 🙏🏼 🦃

Hello all!!

For starters being from the UK we don’t really celebrate thanksgiving so being in New York City for the world famous turkey day was an interesting experience!

After speaking to a lot of my new American friends I began to come to the conclusion that America’s thanksgiving is pretty much my equivalent to Christmas. I asked all my friends what’s so special about it and they told me it was a time for friends and family to all get together and celebrate together (and eat a shit tone of food) haha who wouldn’t love that! Obviously got me it was a little different, Being in a completely different country away from my family and friends I was unable to celebrate my thanksgiving in the traditional way. I found that being away from my family around this time was a whole lot harder than I originally expected up until this point I’ve been fine about being over in NYC alone but because of this particular holiday everybody in my building went home to see their families and all my new friends too so I was pretty much alone for thanksgiving which was a bit of a bummer. However for my thanksgiving eve I suppose you can call it I went to my school and celebrated with my closest classmates and we all shared a meal together and spoke abou all that we were thankful for. It’s wonderful hearing all that everyone’s had to say. Everyone being from different backgrounds, different cultures and all coming together to celebrate thanksgiving was a truly heartwarming experience. We all came together held hands and prayed before eating, the conversation of the evening was so lovely and friendly and made me feel a whole lot better about being so far away from my family as I do consider these guys my second family now. Although my actual thanksgiving I spent alone, the night before I found truly incredible and I really enjoyed myself. I am so greatful for everyone I have met on my new chapter over in NYC, people that work so hard and are just as dedicated as me. We all have a dream and we are all pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones to achieve that. I think we are all super brave and I love each and every person in my classes. I pray that you achieve all your dreams and goals you set yourself in life, we’ve all made the first initial leap into them, and I think we are all incredible. This was just a quick little update as I’ve been slacking a whole lot lately (my bad)

How was everybody else’s thanksgiving?? How did you spend it?

A little late Halloween Look!

Hello my lovelies!

So this post is going to be based around my halloween look and ideas, a little late I know I apologise but I’ve been swamped with school work and everything that’s been going on lately!!

But better late than never I guess hey?!

So for starters unlike most years I left deciding what I wanted to be and do for halloween a little later than normal, usually I try to prepare myself at least a couple weeks in advance, you know practice my makeup and try on numerous different outfits, but this year I didn’t.. oops!

Anyways, I went to this HUUUGGGEEE fancy dress costume store up by 14th street  with a few friends to hunt down our last minute costumes! I’ve never been in a fancy dress costume shop so big! It had floors and floors of costumes, my friend and I actually got lost in there and couldn’t find our way out! haha. Other than being lost in there for an extra hour, I was in heaven. I love any excuse to dress up so I was in my element, and being in New York City for halloween this year, woah what a bonus! We wondered around for ages picking up various different costumes, you know how fussy we can be girls! Wanting the perfect costume.. I ended up choosing the costume I picked up within the first 10 minutes of being in the store, as per usual haha. I decided to be camo-hunter. I went full out, I got the costume, the matching hat, the jacket, the props, the fake knifes and bullets, the blood and a whole load of face-paint. I probably spent a little more than I should have on my costume, but really I don’t think you can put a price on fun! And I love Halloween so what’s a better excuse!!

So once I had bought my costume I rushed home to google different makeup ideas that might work with my costume. I found a whole load of different makeup idea’s but none really went with my costume choice so I decided to make up my own thing. I chose something very simplistic and basic for this halloween but it still looked super effective with my costume.

Okay, so being the fool I am I actually forgot to take a photograph of my makeup look in the morning (how annoying) so the minute I got home I took a picture, my makeup had kind of faded and some of it chipped off but it wasn’t that bad, I have some pictures of a group of friends and I so I’ll also show you those at the end of this post!

So my basic halloween look consisted of green, brown and black face-paints, black and  red eyeshadow, my everyday wet ‘n’ wild photo focus foundation, brown mascara, shimmer bronzer and also a nice Brown lipstick to finish off the look. Oh and fake blood of course, it wouldn’t be halloween without a little bit of fake blood now would it? 😛

I do apologise again that my pictures are after the day was over so my makeup doesn’t look all that fresh! Sorry! :S

Step by step:

  1. I started off of my look by washing my face ensuring I had no leftover makeup on my face and then patted my face dry with a soft towel. I then used about a pea size of my good old maybeline primer which I rub all over my face.
  2. Once that has sunk into my face I go straight for my LOreal beauty blender and I dampen it and squeeze out all of the excess water. I then grab my handy photo focus foundation from wet ‘n’ wild and I place about 2 pea sizes of the foundation and spread evenly around my face and then begin to gently tap in the foundation with my damp beauty blender until it’s all evenly blended.
  3. Normally I would use concealer here but I didn’t because my makeup look didn’t really need it but if you want to use it feel free. I then moved onto my pressed powder and I lightly applied this all over my face with a soft fluffy brush, especially in areas where I may get oily through the day just to lock in the foundation.
  4. Then I go onto the bronzer and apply as normal down my cheekbones, to give my face a little bit of shape.
  5. Once I’d done this I went onto my eye shadow which is where my halloween look really becomes to come together. I pick up some of my light brown eye shadow and cover the entire eyelid with this product. Once the lid is covered I then find my black eye shadow and I slowly start to work the black in from the far corners into the brown eye shadow giving it a smoky eye look. I did this until I had a nice full smoky eye look with only the brown and black eye shadows. See, I told you simple!
  6. Okay next I moved onto my waterline, I found a lovely deep red colour eye shadow and I began to work the red into my waterline very gently giving my eyes a sore look. The red with the black and brown smoky look really compliment each other really well and made my look,  and gave my look a spooky vibe. It is HALLOWEEN after all eh? 😛
  7. I also added a tiny bit of gold right in the inside corner to make my eyes pop a little – this is optional I just love gold so much.
  8. The next stage I applied my mascara as normal, I decided to use brown mascara for this look because I was sticking very much to browns and greens for this look so I thought why not.
  9. Now this is my starting point, this is where the face-paint comes in. This is also very simple. With the green face-paint I apply a pea size blob onto the back of my hand, now you can use a small brush to apply this but I find using my fingers is easier for me and gives me more accuracy. I get the green cream onto my finger and on my face I draw a straight line in the middle of my cheek. I then do the same on my other cheek, exactly the same.
  10. Next I do the same but with the brown face-paint, I apply it directly above the green line on my face. Do the same on the other cheek.
  11. I then do the same with the black face-paint. I apply the black above the brown line. Do the same on the other cheek, again.
  12. This is where it gets messy. This look is nearly complete, but would not be complete without some blood! To make my hunter look a little bit more scary I decided I was going to wear my choker and make some sort of cut across my neck. Where the choker is placed on my neck I drew a faint black line with eye shadow through the gaps so.I had a guideline for my blood.
  13. After I had the black lines in place, I got the fake blood and through the choker I gently dripped down the fake blood, drop by drop. Allowing some of the drips to go further than the others. I did this all the way along my neck giving a barbed-wired type of look.

See, I told you it was that simple!

I hope you enjoyed my little step by step guide on how I created this simple halloween look. (This is my first time doing this haha) I hope you all had a great Halloween!
I’m gunna show you just a few pictures of my classmates and I, to show you what we dressed up as for Halloween!

What did you dress up as for Halloween?

My new little Autumn gem!

Hello my loves! ♥♥♥♥♥

Happy November 1st!! Woahh seriously, where has the time gone, this year has just flown by!!

I just wanted to get a few things off of my chest before I continue this post which is ultimately about this amazing hidden gem I’ve come across, just in time for winter!
To begin with, I am okay! For those of you that know I live in NYC right now and after yesterdays tragic events I just wanted to ensure you that I’m alright. My school (the New York film academy) was unfortunately right outside where the incident took place so as you can imagine it was all a little surreal for all of us. I’ve never really been put in that kind of position before, real danger. As soon as I heard something was happening I had such an awful feeling in my gut, I rushed back into the school building. If I’m completely honest I was terrified, I’ve never seen so many police/fbi/ helicopters in my life. My heart really does go out to those who were affected by yesterdays horrendous attacks. We cannot live in fear, we cannot let things like this stop us from living the lives we are destined to live. After yesterdays events it made me realise that woah, that could have been me. My life could have tragically been taken away as those who sadly were taken yesterday. You have to be able to live your life to it’s full potential and not worry about things.  Everyone stay safe out there,  stay vigilant, but don’t live in fear. We’re stronger together. Help those around you and most importantly spread the love.

Okay so now I’ve gotten that off of my chest I wanted to talk to you all about this new beauty I have come across and find myself using constantly! As you know we’re getting deeper and deeper into autumn now and soon it’ll be winter! This little gem is going to help me make these colder days more bearable! My saviour is called Dragon balm!

This product not only smell amaaazzzzing but it also does it’s job!! This particular product is designed to relax, sooth and calm you or the areas you apply the balm. Now I have the red dragon balm which is the relaxer one. I believe they have many different variations of the product that do different things, I’m still yet to try those out! I am so grateful to have come across this product when I did, as you can see from the beginning of my post I have been rather stressed lately not only with School work but now especially after yesterday I’m a little shaken up and stressed.

This product is working an absolute charm on me. Dragon balm smells absolutely incredible, it’s like this minty smell almost like olbus oil – which I love too! It really gives you a sense of calmness and it’s also super easy to apply. It feels smooth and silky when applying to the skin. You can use this product to help sooth any muscle pains you might have, all you do is gently apply a thin layer of the product to the area that needs treatment (you can apply this up to 3 times a day). I read an article where it said that some people use this old Chinese medicine to help sooth their arthritis which intrigued me. I tried this product for the first time about a week ago as for me personally when it gets colder my joints and my calves tend to get a little sore due to the cold weather, and to my amazement just 10 minutes after I applied the product I noticed an instant soothing feeling, my calves weren’t nearly as painful and sore as before I applied the balm. At first there was a cool tingling sensation but something about it was quite nice, it felt a little strange at first but as the product sank into my skin, I was surprisingly impressed. I was a little skeptical at first about this product as my mum recommended it to me and she’s a bit of a hippy in a sense when it comes to old fashioned remedies and energy, but honestly it was just wow. It wasn’t tacky at all like I had anticipated I know that when I’ve used thinks like vix / and vapour rub it’s left me feeling all sticky and tacky and who likes to feel like that?! But this product is great it just seeps right into your skin leaving no real trace of you putting the product on it the first place, and it leaves you smelling minty fresh, how Devine.

Even the packaging itself I find pretty cute, it’s pretty basic but very appealing to the eye. It’s small, fits perfectly in your bag when you’re on the move. I find myself taking it everywhere for a quick little fix throughout the day! I picked up the 20g size, I believe that have other sizes too but I think for me the 20g is just perfect.

I believe you can pick up this incredible product  (if you’re in the U.S) in your local CVS pharmacy stores and if you’re not residing in the US you can even online on amazon! I think online the packaging might be a little different so just make sure you do your research before you purchase! Like I said they have different balms for different things! My mum sent me over to me in the mail so I’m not quite sure where she purchased it but she’s in the U.K so it mustn’t be that hard to find!

Also in the evenings I’ve found it to be very useful for getting to sleep, I guess it’s something about the scent that calms me but I’ve been managing to get to sleep a whole lot easier when using this balm, just a little blob of it on my wrists before I go to sleep (ensuring I don’t get it in my eyes, ouch that would be very painful!) If I were to rate this product I’d probably give it a strong 9/10 purely because of it’s effectiveness to what the label says it does – I’m still pretty blown back with how well it worked. I’m very often let down by products because they never seem to do what they say on the packet, but this red dragon balm really does the trick. Has anyone else used this product before, if so was it as affective for you as it was for me? I loved it!!

Don’t you just love Autumn, because I do! Seeing all the wonderful new products in the stores getting ready for the Christmas line up,  people whacking out their fluffy bobble hats and warm puffy jackets. Seeing all of the beautiful colours in the streets, the trees, the leaves the minute you step outside. That first breath of the freshest crisp air while taking a walk in the park, These are a few reasons why autumn is my favourite season.

How’re you all settling into the colder weather? Have you found any new autumn must haves? Let me know, I’d love to hear!

Warm hugs,
