Welcome to yet another beauty review!
So over the winter time I’ve really been loving fall colours, dark reds, purples and even golden browns… and I’ve decided I’m going to spice up my makeup routine with a few of these precious gems.
To start with MAC makeup has always been a part of my beauty routine when it comes to matte lipsticks, they are a necessity for me when it comes to a heavier / party look. So I thought I would check out some of their other products, and I found Burgundy Times Nine Eyeshadow Palette – (Find me on the MAC COSMETICS website).
And… I am in love! This palette has such a range of colours, perfect for many occasions, ‘out on the town’, smokey eyes, – if you want a heavier look. Or even just a ‘simple shimmer’ – for a more natural look. You can achieve both of these contrasting looks so easily with this 1 palette. The palette itself is quite small but yet so perfect to throw into my makeup bag when I’m on the run.
This particular palette includes the shades ‘Honey Lust (L)’, ‘Poppyseed (S)’, ‘Quarry (M)’, ‘Antiqued (VXP)’, ‘Embark (M)’, ‘Noir (V)’, ‘Haux (S)’, ‘Star Violet (VXP)’ and ‘Sketch (V)’.
My particular favourite colours to use at the moment are ‘Honey Lust’ and ‘Antiqued’ and actually I find that those particular 2 shades go so well together, and really compliment one another. I usually do a sort of smoky eye thing with the 2 colours which I use for both special occasions and day to day looks.
I found that when using this product some of the shades weren’t as pigmented as I would normally like (I use a lot of ColourPop – which is extremely pigmented!). Especially when it came to the lighter brown shades. However saying that when I went to use the slightly darker browns and purples, I found them to be more pigmented than the others. Now this may just be my personal preference because like I said, I do love really pigmented eyeshadows – it just makes me feel like they’re going to last all day. So obviously you would have to be the judge for yourself.
Do you like the pigmented eye shadow feel as much as I do or do you prefer the softer, lighter eyeshadows?
To go with my new Burgundy Times Nine eye shadow palette I also bought myself a couple of their matte lipsticks. These lipsticks are my absolute holy grail when it comes to lipsticks! I can’t remember a time where I’ve been without them, that’s how long I’ve been a part of the Mac matte lipstick family. I find that their range of lipstick colours is absolutely incredible, there must be hundreds! Every time I go into Mac I swear I find more and more colours which I didn’t think was physically possible, there’s just so many to choose from! So how do you choose? Well for me, I’m very much a girl who loves red, I think it’s a very classic and goes with almost everything, so you can’t go wrong really! Red is my no.1 choice! I decided to go for a slightly darker red this time, as I have so many others of the brighter reds, and I chose Studded Kiss.
Now, for me this lipstick is perfect. When applying the lipstick is goes on so smoothly and effortlessly, it’s so easy! The product itself dries so matte just how I like it. Also, for me the smell of this product is incredible, I don’t know how to describe it, it’s got like a sweet, or flowery kind of smell which smells so delicious!! Unlike a lot of other matte lipsticks I’ve used where they smelt a little toxic and unappealing to the point where I couldn’t wear it anymore! But this lipstick is to die for!
The wearability of this lipstick is also pretty good, I would apply this lipstick early morning and it would last me almost all day, with maybe a couple of touch up’s here and there after I’ve eaten meals or had a cheeky little snack.
I also have this lipstick in the colour Midnight Breeze (which unfortunately I cannot find the link to online – my boyfriend bought it over for me from the UK so I’m not sure if it’s only in the UK currently). This is a dark purply colour, which goes so well with some of the darker shades within the palette I spoke about earlier. This colour really stands out for people who have blue or green eyes (I have blue), so just be careful not to over do it when it comes to this lipstick and eye shadows, sometimes the simpler eye look with a darker lip looks far more complimentary.
Anyway, I should probably wrap this up now. I hope you enjoyed my little review on a couple of goodies I managed to get my hands on.
